In this class you will learn not only how to to use your camera, but you will also take the first steps to becoming a knowledgeable and competent photographer.Almost everyone has some sort of camera, but few have the a basic understanding of how cameras work; much less a meaningful understanding of the basic principles of photography.
A camera is a tool, much like a computer or a chainsaw. Without a basic understanding of how a camera works- especially given the complexity of today’s cameras, it’s difficult to capture memory worthy photos.
Beginner DSL101 will allow you to move from the world of taking pictures, to a the far more vibrant and interesting world of becoming a photographer.
This class will cover helping you to understand the basic camera mechanics. White balance, image resolution and focus will also be discussed as well as fundamentals of exposure, the importance of a shutter speeds, how to select the right file type; matching correct f-stops (aperture) with camera speed, and an understanding of ISO and its proper use; as well as.
We’ll also touch on the proper use of flash and selecting the right shooting modes.
Just as importantly, this class, through both classroom and field instruction, will cover the basic elements of taking a proper photograph, including composition, depth of field and lighting.
This class will also provide a basic overview of the photographic tradition, including a discussion of photographers you should appreciate.
